SALTBURN ATHLETIC ( JUNIOR ) FC UPDATE

UNDER 13`s - LEAGUE CHAMPIONS !

I am very happy to report that Saltburn Athletic now has two League winning sides this season. After a disastrous 5-1 away defeat to Mount Pleasant Rangers, we had one game left to get things right. On Sunday 26th April we played our final home match against Newton Aycliffe SC. From the kick off we played like champions and controlled the game for the full 70 minutes, eventually winning 8-0, with goals from Andy Turton (4), Jacob Waller (2), Ben Jacques, and Robert Ellison. We were then awarded a home win over Loftus who failed to turn up for a match. This left us top of the League with 39 points, Thornaby Central as runners up with 34 points. A big thank you to everyone for all the support this season. The League trophies will be presented on 27th May at the Tall Trees Hotel in Yarm.

If anyone is interested in playing for the Under 14’s next season can they please contact Martin Fowkes Tel : 01287 623356.

AN APOLOGY

Last month we included an article stating that we hoped to start a new team next season. Unfortunately, the Coach who was to run the team has suffered a serious injury, and will not be able to take charge of the team. We appreciate that this is disappointing news and would like to apologise to those who contacted us. The Committee have given a commitment to add new teams in the future but realistically this will be in the 2010/11 season.

PETER BEARDSLEY  NIGHT

Unfortunately the Peter Beardsley night which had been re-scheduled to take place on Thurs 14th May at Saltburn Cricket Club had to be cancelled. This was because Peter Beardsley had agreed to play in a recently arranged Hillsborough Charity Match in Liverpool the same evening. The Committee would like to apologise for the late cancellation which was completely out of our control. Everyone who purchased tickets were given full refunds. The Committee would however like to thank Saltburn Cricket Club, Peter Short and all those who supported the event.
