U15
Darlington
(home) 5-1 - 13/09/09

This was an overcast day with a slight breeze as
Saltburn Athletic U15s Kicked off the new season in a league game against
Darlington TSC at home.
Saltburn started strongly and controlled the
game but a succession of near misses was frustrating but eventually Saltburn
got the goal they deserved through Hudson who added a second before half
time. The team should have had the game sewn up by half time but some
excellent goalkeeping and unfortunate bad misses kept the opposition in the
game. Saltburn continued to control the game but a mistake by the
defence allowed Darlington to pull a goal back as Saltburn continued to pass
up chances. Eventually Caird scored and was followed by a Sam Clark goal to
put Saltburn firmly in control at 4-1. We continued to press and Hudson got
his due reward by getting his hat trick making the final score 5-1. A good
start and am sure there will be plenty more goals to come during the
season. Graham was outstanding in defence and was duly given the man of the
match. There were also good performances from Atkinson, Whiley, Hoggard,
Hudson, Caird and Axe with the others doing their bit also and was a good
overall performance by the whole team
