5TH Division Saltburn Athletic U 11’s pulled off a surprise win at the expense of 1st division Wolviston Juniors in a thrilling Cup match.
Saltburn scored twice in the opening five minutes through Prouse and then a surprise 25 yard shot by Daniel. Wolviston battled back and scored twice to make it 2 – 2 at half time. The game was played in appalling conditions with high winds and driving rain although the conditions eased in the second half.

Wolviston made it 3 – 2. Then an amazing run and shot by Prouse made it 3 – 3. The game was end to end as both teams strived for goals. Wolviston went 4 – 3 ahead only for Saltburn to equalise with almost the last kick of normal time, when Prouse scored his hatrick.

Extra time was then played and Prouse scored his fourth and fifth goal to make it 6 – 4 to Saltburn. Wolviston did not give up and Readman, the Saltburn keeper,  made several good saves, as he had done throughout. Wolviston did pull a goal back to make it a tense last few minutes but Saltburn held on to make the final score 6 – 5.
