Saltburn Athletic Football Club
Code of Conduct
As part of the Application and Accreditation for the
FA Charter Mark, the Club has to have a Code of Conduct
that is applied to Players, Coaches, Team Officials and Spectators. The Club expects this Code to be adhered
to and enforced at each and every game. The various parts of the Code are set out below.
In ensuring that the Code is adhered to a verbal warning would usually be given to any individual deemed to be
breaking the code. If further breaches occur a written warning would be issued and if this ultimately failed to
address the problem, the individual concerned would be asked to leave the club or abstain from watching games.
The club reserves the right to move away from this process in circumstances where there are serious or dangerous
breaches of the Code.
Code of Conduct for Players:
A Player should:
1. Make every effort to develop their own sporting abilities, in terms of skill, technique, tactics and stamina.
2. Give maximum effort and strive for the best possible performance during a game, even if his team is in a position
where the desired result has already been achieved.
3.Set a positive example for others, particularly young players and supporters.
4. Avoid all forms of gamesmanship and time-wasting.
5. Always have regard to the best interests of the game, including where publicly expressing an opinion on the game
and any particular aspect of it, including others involved in the game.
6. Not use inappropriate language.
7. Make every effort consistent with fair play and the laws of the game to help his own team win.
8. Resist any influence which might, or might seen to bring into question his own commitment to the team.
9. Know and abide by the laws, rules and spirit of the game and competition rules.
10. Accept success and failure, victory and defeat equally.
11. Resist any temptation to take banned substances or use banned techniques.
12. Treat opponents with due respect at all times, irrespective of the result of the game.
13.Safeguard the physical fitness of opponents, avoid violence and rough play, and help injured opponents.
14. Accept the decisions of match officials without protest.
15. Avoid words or actions which may mislead match officials.
16. Show due respect to match officials.
17. Abide by the instructions of their coach and team officials, provided they do not contradict the spirit of this code.
18. Show due respect towards the team officials of the opposition.
19. Show due respect to the interests of the supporters.
Code of Conduct for Parents:
Parents/spectators have a great influence on children's enjoyment and success in football. All children play football because they first and foremost love the game - its fun. It is important to remember that however good a child becomes at football within the club it is important to reinforce the message to parents/spectators that positive encouragement will contribute to;

+ A sense of personal achievement
+ Self esteem
+ Assist to improve the child's skills and techniques
A parents/spectators expectations and attitude have a significant bearing on a child's attitude towards;
+ Other players
+ Officials
+ Managers
+ Spectators
Ensure that parents/spectators within the club are always positive and encouraging towards all the children, not just their own.
Encourage parents/spectators to;
+ Applaud the opposition as well as your own team
+ Avoid coaching the child during the game
+ Not to shout and scream
+ Give attention to each of the children involved in football not just the most talented
+ Give encouragement to everyone to participate in football
